2. E-bike Safety Checks

You must perform a safety check on Forest e-bikes before use, including but not limited to
undertaking the following actions:
- Check the e-bikes general condition (wheels, tires, etc.)
- Does the e-bikes brakes and lights work?
- Are the seat, pedals and basket properly attached?
- Is the battery sufficiently charged to complete your journey?
- Is there any other sign of damage, unusual or excessive wear or is maintenance needed?

3. General Safety Guidance
3.1
Your safety is the most important for us therefore Chestertons ask that you ride with care at all times. This means you must not carry any animals or personal items (like a briefcase or a bag) or use any device (like a mobile phone or another portable device) if they impair or hinder with your vision or safe use of the bike (no texting while using the bike, for example). There will not always be a designated place for you to ride, such as a bike lane, so please exercise caution when riding around cars and other traffic (Chestertons is not responsible for the actions of other cyclist or drivers).

3.3
•The use of cycle helmets in the UK is not a legal requirement. However, our Employer's liability insurers require employees using e-bikes to wear a helmet. Therefore, you must at all times use a helmet for your own safety and for you to be insured.
- 3.4 Employees must be confident to ride an e-bike and familiarise themselves with the e-bike before starting a journey.
- 3.5 For a helmet to be effective it has to be the appropriate size, fitted and fastened properly.
4. Damage To Third-party Property Or Injury To Other Persons
4.1 All employees using the e-bike scheme may have the benefit of third-party liability insurance, which provides cover against damage to third-party property or injury to other persons subject to these terms and the terms of our insurance policy.
